Couples is the title given to this body of work.  As in January of 2020, my wife left for China and due to the pandemic she wasn’t able to return. This experience is the motivating force behind a body of work observing and questioning ideas of relationships, companionship, and love. 

My intention is to represent the relationships that my wife and I have experienced. We both come from divorced parents which presents an intergenerational conflict that has impacted the way we navigate our own marriage and external relationships. Utilizing familiar digital interfaces, I create images that reference Facetime call screens which has been the way my wife and I have kept in communication throughout this period despite being far away from each other. Ultimately, this work represents different stories derived from the concept that most people experience a relationship with another person. Often, those relationships have deep implications in the development of someone's life.
